Begins to preoccupy
my mind now
so many months
gone in a flash

While we were battling
such terrible loss
our minds in a swirl
searching desperately
for a way out

God bless those
that put it aside
starting to rebuild again
amazing courage demonstrated

I suspect though
that others like me
can’t see an open door
to a world beyond now

While our world
lays it on heavily
presenting barriers
so hard to overcome

I struggle daily
with a little help
from the beach and the waves
supporting friends

I’ll get there yet
but without a constant battle
in the mind
trying to find peace again!
