Lake Life

Peter Austin

19 February 2020

Be you resident, retired.
Maybe tourist, first timer.
At the end of the day we are one.
It's inbuilt, it's built in.
It's ingrained, it's ground in.
It's lake life, it's fun in the sun.
From dawn until sunset.
And day in between.
Paradise catches our eye.
Be it boating or floating.
Or swimming or fishing.
You only need look to the sky.
To sit back, to kickback.
To chill out, to relax.
It's all just part of the plan.
The sun streams down on us.
It warms us, it soothes us.
Some use it to work on their tan.
We are open and flowing.
The community glowing.
Low and high tides do abound.
Flatties or lizards?
Just tag em, don't bag em.
Pop em back in so they'll come back around.
The Groms to Green Island.
Great break with
great styling.
And their saltwater bleached blonde hair.
The campers, the glampers.
Big vans and much champers.
All told there is not a care.
The skiers out posing.
Those on the beach dozing.
All look forward to end of the day.
And those that were dozing.
A few drinks they start posing.
Whilst the skiers their bodies do pay.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
We're Aussies, we don't care.
Cause we've all heard that one before.
Many families together.
No matter the weather.
We're community through to the core.
I could go on forever.
But you all know the story.
It's lake life, it's fun in the sun.
It's inbuilt, it's built in.
It's ingrained, it's ground in.
It's lake life, and that's why we come.
