Changes

Stephen Chinnock

8 April 2020

Even the sea gulls
On Mollymook beach
Have changed
Their marauding ways
Sitting in groups
On the sand

A few terns have joined them
Part of the extended family
Of sea birds
All settled down
A sense of unusual calm
Some have their heads
Under their wings

Dreaming no doubt
Of better days
When left over
Fish and chips
We’re the point of the day
Still they can’t be locked down
They’ll fly out to sea
To eat a better diet
Of fresh fish!
