Come two boys into my life
lifting me up
out of depression
to a new view
of what my life might become
even at this later stage of life

If they love me
as they surely do
maybe I can love myself
with a new direction
in life turned upside down

Fires and destruction occurred
but love and new connections remain
without which I couldn’t survive
I’ll love what I’ve got
And turn my back
on what I’ve lost
