Wings
Stephen Chinnock
27 May 2020
Wings of love
on the mountain above
while scorn blows down
from below decks
Care and concern
for the delicate balance
of life on earth
all but forgotten
The gods of all time
blow hard great winds
but nobody it seems
is listening now
The fate we have chosen
is clear on Mount Olympus
neglect not care
for the god given possibilities
As Icarus tempted fate
so have we trying to fly
on greed and hate
for our fellow man
We will of course
come crashing down
when our wings melt
for lack of consideration
Of the togetherness
of humankind
locked in on a small
blue planet in the cosmos
Those wings of comfort
could support us all
if we can accept
Divine intervention!
