Why do tears
come so late
after that terrible event
so many months ago
where did we hold our grief

Hoping I suppose
to sort it all out
being organised and practical
it can be done with determination

My tears came tonight
falling face down
in the garden
picking parsley
to supplement the dinner

My heart broke so gently
releasing the tears
of redemption
knowing that I can let it go!

Always embarrassed
to be found lacking strength
not wanting to show the fragility
under the floor boards
carefully built to stand on!
