Warmth is needed today
with the power out
no gas heater I’m afraid
while the wind and the rain
whip up a mighty storm

But I’m lucky
to have a beautiful patchwork blanket
knitted and crocheted by many hands
not knowing how important they’d become
in keeping me cosy in wintery times

On my head sits a woollen beanie
delivered in a “ Love Box “
from spinners and weavers
who dyed the wool delightfully coloured
perfect for these moments

So I sit in the dark and cold
but cosy just the same
feeling the insulating properties
of wool so generously donated
and the kindness showed
in my time of need!
