Sunday evening

Stephen Chinnock

28 June 2020

On the same deck
out in the cold
while others watch
awful television inside
with the heater

But I’m wrapped in a blanket
of squares of pure wool
knitted and chrocheted
by many kind and considerate
ladies from far and wide
gathered in Canberra
to be stitched together
delivered to my door

My shoulders are warm
but with such kindhearted
attention offered openly
So is my soul and heart

Can’t thank you enough
gentle and caring folk
it’s an antidote
in distressed times
a wonderful present
to be treasured forever!
