Prayer Trees
Serena Scarlett
8 December 2020
You send up your first fronds with shimmering green
The unfurling offering hope
after all the devastation that's been
Your light and life is for all to aspire
after all that black when we felt so flat
It hit my head and heart with a mighty splat
But prayer trees are everywhere to be found
Not just one small fern tree but in groups together so tall "Look at me"!
"Prayer Trees" I acknowledge as I pass you by.
Ever reaching, your veritable hands are silently preaching
Look up and lift up into the Light
the dark charcoal earth and stark trees are nothing now
Row after row of black beside you
reminders of natures fiery power
that dark past is gone with rain and shower.
There IS new life
It's a constant power
