For the little ones
Stephen Chinnock
11 December 2020
A day without a poem
Is like drought without rain
The thoughts cannot be controlled
The emotions not restrained
The river must flow
Even over a burnt landscape
Ever so slowly
To reach the end
The tides of the heart
Rise and fall
Releasing pain
Restoring the whole again
The little ones bounce
On the trampoline of life
Energising the day
Leaving us amazed
A quiet time at night
Reflects on the possibilities
Choices to be made
About what tomorrow might bring
My burden is about the future
For the much loved growing up ones
What to be done
To secure a viable life
On a planet in so much strife
I will sacrifice all
To find the answer
To that dilemma!
