A week of three of pain

Stephen Chinnock

26 April 2020

A week or three of pain
Has descended on me again
While my block of land is scraped clean
Clean that is, of all my memories

Gone but not forgotten
That world that I had
With its comforts and blessings
Accumulated over time

Today I sit listening to the soulful tunes
Of Leonard Cohen
Wondering what’s over the hill
The peak of suffering

Life must surely turn a corner
But who’s driving
Round that bend
Where will it end?
