As the alerts blared

Yellow, White, Orange, Blue

6 September 2020

The crackle sounds, the roar
The flames the noise
What should we do
The sky is red
It is hard to breathe
Do we go do we stay
The messages are all over place
By the time want to go
The roads are closed No way in
No way out
You just need to figure it out
The elderly are bewildered
No official doorknocks so no go
The officials say get to know them….
That’s nice…no knock they will not go!!
How do we prepare again
When we feel so unheard
How do we feel safe again when no one listens

As the alerts blared

3 June 2020

As the alerts blared
We got numb
Not another one we all whined
Do we go, do we stay
It became a mantra.
One we sadly ignored
The fires hit N,S,E,W

Where do we go, there is nowhere…
We survived…but at what cost?
Mentally shot, physically ruined.
It will be a long road to recovery.
Locked in no way out, yet many heard the shout out.
Thank you to all.
Many friends were made in that time, some surprisingly to all.
